My Unique Approach to Building Banjos

My approach to banjo making does not lead to large volume production of instruments. Every banjo is uniquely crafted in our custom shop. Our goal is to create custom instruments as works of art and exceptional voice.

I use woods of different species, most of it obtained locally. Examples are maple, walnut, cherry.  I cut all my own inlays and marquetry. No banjo goes out of my shop until I am satisfied with the sound. I take great pride in my craftsmanship and attention to detail.  I have been playing clawhammer banjo as a professional for over 30 years, and have a developed ear for tonal qualities.

All banjos are hand crafted by me and all have a different and unique design so no two banjos are the same. I also custom design if the customer requests a personal touch including carving, inlay, marquetry,    and size. One of the banjos that is becoming very popular is the partially fretless banjo. This banjo has a incredible tonal quality and is impressive to the eye. All banjos are open-back for that old tyme look and sound. If you are in the market for a banjo and don't just want the ordinary and want a banjo that is unique to you and your personality and style and of fine quality. Please contact us and lets create a banjo just for you!
